Popped into my local photography store to pick up some supplies and this book jumped out at me... I jus ordered a new 70 - 300mm tele-photo lens (aka a zoom lens) and they sent me the wrong one. Instead of sending it back I decided to challenge myself and teach myself how to use it.

If you're wondering what was wrong w/ the lens i got? it was a manual focus instead of an auto focus. So instead of having the camera do a quick focus for me, I now have to focus it myself and perfect my timing in order to get the shots just right...
anywho, i bought this book to help me along the journey, i'll let you kno if it was worth the money..

Nikon lenses don't have a Auto Focus/Manuel switch on the lenses?
The one I got says AF but no switch...
From what I take from the Nikon website, if it has AF on it, then it should be one of their auto-focus lenses. The 70-300mm f/4-5.6 is under their auto focus section of lenses, assuming that is the one you have.
found out the deal w/ my lens.. its an AF lens, but the AF doesnt work on my camera model (D5000)
if i had like a d300 or a d3 i'd bee good!
That doesn't make sense. A auto focus lens should work on any of their Nikon cameras no matter the model. You might should call Nikon or send it back.
Not so, basically there are different types of AF lenses, for my D5000 i have to becareful to only look for "AF-S" OR "AF-I" lenses.
I called Adorama where i bought from and they're is an AF-S version of the 70-300 only prob is its $100 more. i'm gonna get it but i'm still gonna force myself to learn how to use in in Manual mode.
