I had an interesting conversation this morning. The topic on deck was Jamaican slang, dances, and music. While chopping it up my people i introduced her to one of my favorite songs, "Dagga Dat" by Reggae artist, Bragga. (heavy in the rotation on my iPhone) I quickly shot her a copy of the youtube link to checkout the vid and realized she could barely understand the lyrics... Doing what i do, i looked up an article and explained what the song was really about.. Needless to say, it was an interesting convo so i've decided to share what i found.

Right now in Jamaica, the ban on “daggarin” is a big issue. For people living “a foreign” (abroad/overseas) this is probably news to you. But before we get into the details, don’t you want to know what is “DAGGARIN?”

No, daggering is not some insane stabbing done by Jamaicans. And no it is not a Jamaican form of sword fighting …pause. The Jamaican Broadcasting Commission, who banned “daggarin” in the first place defines it as “a colloquial term used in dancehall culture as a reference to hardcore sex or what is popularly referred to as dry sex, or the activities of persons engaged in the public simulation of various sexual acts and positions”.

I had the distinctive honor of meeting Teddy Blackett of B. Free Paparazzi last summer. Teddy was immediately an influential young man. Standing some odd inches over 6 feet tall with a sexy bald head and a warm personality, I was amazed.

Teddy started B. Free Paparazzi originally as a movie group that would venture to local theaters as a group and even take a group photo once the movie let out. Now, his brand has grown significantly over the last year. You can find Teddy just about at any event snapping candid in color and in black and white with his Nikon DSLR. The photos are ready and posted on his website www.bfreepaparazzi.com in less than 24 hours. Hell, it's the same night 9 times out of 10!

The first event I attended that Teddy coordinated was Simple Pleasures. This event was a break-the-ice/wine tasting event at the new upscale venue called The Inspot Dessert Bar and Lounge. A Stone Hill Winery Representative came out with delicious samples while music flowed and cups overflowed. It was one heck of a night. Most definitely a night to remember for sure!

Lately, Teddy has so busy with snapping events and building his brand. He has also been nominated to ALIVE Magazine's Sexy and Successful search for the most desirable movers and shakers in the St. Louis area. The Sexy and Successful candidate is young and professional with the total package of being sexy, savvy, and successful. And clearly Teddy is just that! How did you come up with the name,logo and concept for B Free Paparazzi?

Teddy:
My name is Teddy Blackett, so I've always been Teddy B, always been a free spirit and after a difficult relationship I realized the importance of keeping that spirit alive. As far as the paparazzi I've always had a nack for taking candid photos that told a story. My friends started calling me the paparazzi cuz I'd always be the guy taking pictures when no one expected it.

CoCo.:
How long have you been doing event photography?

Teddy:
My first class was in 1993. Then in college in 2001, bought my 1st DSLR (digital single lens reflex)in August of 2008.

CoCo.:
Everyone that knows you knows that you also host opening movie nights at local movie theaters. How do you find the time for it all?

Teddy:
My friends!!!! Without there support I wouldn't be able to do any of it. Technology also helps, emails, credit cards, telephone transactions, and and the Internet make time management more manageable, LOL!

So Why am I Single in St. Louis?

I've been asked this question countless of times and every time I never give the full answer... Hell I find a way to give a polite and politically correct answer, but you know what? I don't feel like sugarcoating it anymore....

I'm single because I'm not APPRECIATED... especially the way I FEEL I should be.... I know it sounds a little "whoa is me" and bandwagon-ish but I can only speak my truth....Just like men do things to show their love females do the same thing. I'm a realist and I understand how a man's mind works... A man needs to be that provider, protector, AND PURSUER!!!! If he's not all 3 then he's not taking you seriously... I stand on that belief hands down... If you don't call me on a regular basis to see how I'm doing... curious as to what's going on in my world your not interested and your number gets deleted out of my phone. I have no time to waste on a person who doesn't deserve my time....

I've had TOO MANY conversations with GOOD women that just get so frustrated with the men in their life b/c ratchets come a dime a dozen.... I've personally never had a man cheat on me but I understand my girls' situations... I know everyone's not perfect but men hold to much power in most instances.... I don't let it get that far to where a man could do in that that bad..I understand how a man's mind work... I will give only so much rope to hang yourself and then your number is deleted... I know my worth... If you don't show me you know it too then you're dismissed... Flat out... There are PLENTY OF OTHER FISH IN THE SEA that are patiently waiting... No bragging at all... Again I say "I SPEAK MY OWN TRUTH" ..I often use some of my girl's situations and my past ones to make myself stronger in my stance on why I'm single... AND will proudly profess it............... I currently date..... yes.... BUT FOR THE BENEFIT OF ME... no one else....

When I want to be bothered... that's just it... I'm bothered.... I don't feel the need to have to answer to any man about what I do, where I go... or who I hang with.... I come and go as I please and my life has been so much simpler and easier now that I have a different mindset....

I'm not looking for anything serious for the simple fact that men in 2009 exercise their right to date excessively... Why can't I.... In almost all aspects of my life I'm a human sponge... I soak up information that is valuable for me and my assent to greatness... why ignore this area... it makes no sense to me when some women ignore the benefits of being single just b/c they want some constant penis w/o being labeled a hoe.... I've heard so many women say shit like this it makes me sick... I'm not saying sex every man in the club but to get in a situation just b/c u want sex is ridiculous and I've known females like that... to need a man constantly and it really don't matter who he is characterwise is disgusting and embarrassing to me... If you're not sexing every man you hang with why not date a few ... Fuck that stereotype shit... I'm over it and I'm tired of having to worry about what other's think... You don't pay shit or take the classes or seek the major at Saint Louis University SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..... you have no say on my character or shit I do... flat out....

But back to the main topic....

I'm single b/c I've learned the art that men have passed along to their sons and grandsons.... The true singleness mindest is a mothaf*&^^ to have.... And it's's so empowering and intoxicating all at the same time.... To be able to answer whomever whenever you feel like it and having no remorse on sending someone straight to voicemail is too invigorating. I see why men do it... Now I know some may read this and think that "Oh my gosh.... she is missing out on so much"... but guess what babes... I did the relationship thing... for 3 years... it was both wonderful and horrible... I know what it's like.... I prefer this path at this point in life ... No I'm not bitter... I love a support relationships... But in my own situation I am very content and happy in this state... it allows me to concentrate in on me and mine....

Now the people I tagged are just people I feel would appreciate this... Nothing more or less... I tagged no one that this note is personally directed towards.... just some thoughts...

Woman Seriously Injured by a Sex Toy Mishap!!!

Why did I get and invite to one of my good friends bachelor party and "saw" this trick performed live???? I remember thinking, "this is some crazy Sh!#t, I hope theres no blade in that saw". LEXINGTON PARK, Md. (WUSA) - A Southern Maryland woman was seriously injured in a mishap involving a sex toy over the weekend. The case was first reported on TheBayNet.com, and Saint Mary's county public safety sources confirmed the information to 9NEWS NOW.

The accident was reported to local fire and rescue personnel about 1:30 a.m. on March 7, from an address on Rogers Drive. The man who made the 911 call said he had placed a sex toy over a saber saw blade, and then used the power tool on his partner, but the blade cut through the plastic and injured the woman.

The victim, a 27-year-old woman, was reportedly injured and bleeding. She was later flown to Prince George's hospital center by Maryland State Police helicopter.

County law enforcement officials who were familiar with the media report about this case said, although they were not initially called to investigate the incident, they would likely follow up to determine it was just an accident and involved consentual behavior.

NEW ORLEANS — A Louisiana woman is accused of trading two young children in her care for a pet cockatoo and $175 cash from a couple who had been trying for years to have their own child, authorities said Thursday.

Donna Greenwell, 53, a long-haul trucker with an arrest record from Pitkin, is charged with aggravated kidnapping, along with would-be adoptive parents Paul J. Romero, 46, and Brandy Lynn Romero, 27, of Evangeline Parish.

"The Romeros had good intentions from what we see," said Keith Dupre, a detective with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office. "They really wanted to take care of the kids. The kids were well-dressed and seemed to be treated good by the Romero family."

DEAR DR. B. FREE

Sooo, I have been talking to this guy since almost a year. He is from out of town and is mad cool. He is such a gentleman, the sweetest person ever met and he truly cares for me.I honestly believe he wants the best for me.

I enjoy talking to him and he makes me laugh and whatnot. However, there is one thing missing. You know, (well you may not; "Bow Chica Bow Wannnn)in the beginning of a relationship all you want to do is talk to that person (even though I'm not much of a phone talker) and all you can do is think about that person. Like that's a feeling you are supposed to get when something is new.

Well, I felt that for maybe the first two weeks of this little thing, but I feel it NO MORE. AND.... and on top of that I have ABSOLUTELY no desire to do anything sexual with him... AT ALL. Not to say he is not a handsome guy, but I just don't feel that way about him. I feel bad because everybody wants me to be with him andI just don't feel it..its just not there. And my fam is really feeling him from all of the good things he has done for me. I'm so confused about it all and don't know what to do. Should I say how I feel about him now?... or...wait for awhile and see if these feelings for him sprout up out of the ground? The only thing is its almost a catch 22...either i tell him now and possibly hurt his feelings or wait til later and hurt his feelings even more.

What should I do...? I guess I'm just thinking about if another guy that's truly a good guy and cares about me is ever gonna come around again. Go easy on me...it's hard for me to express my feelings and this whole email is a bit much for Me

Kanye tries to make sense of it all, Kanye West, who toured with Rihanna, said on Ryan Seacrest's morning radio show Tuesday morning that the reports of abuse were "devastating."
"I feel like, just as a person, I don't care how famous she is or even if she just worked at McDonald's, that should never happen," West said on the show, which is broadcast on KIIS-FM in Los Angeles. "It should never come to that place." (Assosciated Press)

With all that out the way, here's the facts as we know it...

(1) LAPD has still not officially said that Rihanna, was the victim of Brown's attack early Sunday morning ahead of the Grammy awards, where they were both scheduled to perform. But unnamed police sources have told the Los Angeles Times that Rihanna was and that she was cooperating with police. (reuters)

(2) Rihanna postponed a scheduled concert in Malaysia on Tuesday as Los Angeles police continued their probe of an attack by R&B star Chris Brown on a woman widely believed to be the pop songstress. (reuters)

(3) Wrigley (as in Wrigley Field + Doublemint gum = Major $$$), has suspended ad campaigns featuring Chris Breezy, WAKS-FM, in Cleveland has stopped playing Brown's music until the allegations are resolved. Stations in Pittsburgh and Indianapolis also reportedly pulled Brown's music as well. (Associated Press)

(4) MediaTakeOut.com just caught wind that Rihanna suffered from multiple bruises, contusions, ad bite marks as a result of the Chris Brown incident.Here's how TMZ is reporting it:
Police took pictures of Rihanna's injuries and they are "horrific."As we reported, the photos show major contusions on both sides of the singer's face -- there is serious swelling and bruising. Her lip is split and her nose bloody. We have now confirmed there are bite marks on one of her arms and on several fingers.And we now know this... Rihanna claims Brown struck her with his fists and that's what did the damage. There was no object used in the alleged attack.Rihanna refused treatment at the scene, but before she left cops took photos. We're told the photos alone are "devastating proof of abuse."

One-night stand man wakes to

A drunken fling ended in disaster for a man who woke up to find his lover's name carved into his arm. Dominique Fisher, 22, used a Stanley knife to write her name on Wayne Robinson's upper arm. She inflicted the injuries on the 24-year-old at her home in Blackburn, Lancashire.

Mr Robinson woke to find his body decorated with a star on his back, 'Dominique' written on his upper right arm, and numerous slash marks on his left arm and shoulder.

He told police he had drunk vodka and taken Valium and was not awake during the incident on the night of June 14 last year.

Mr Robinson said he panicked when he woke up and took a taxi back to his home in Fleetwood, Lancashire.

He said: 'I went to her place for sex, not to be tattoed. I can't believe she did this to me and I hate her.

'When I woke I was covered in blood. Dominique was snoring. I just had to get out of there. I didn't even wake her to ask what she'd done.' 'I'm scarred for life,' he told The Sun. 'I wish I'd ........................................

The Chris Brown Update

Here's the deal St. Louis,

A lot of gossip sites are posting the "scoop" on the Chris Brown/Rhianna situation. Here's the real deal according to Associated Press;

Los Angeles Police are investigating events that took place early Sunday at the annual pre-Grammy party hosted by Clive Davis. The official police report states that, "Brown and longtime girlfriend, pop superstar Rihanna, were seen happily sitting together" and "Later that evening, "officers received a 911 call about an incident in which a woman accused Brown of hurting her.

Authorities have not identified who that woman was, citing confidentiality for victims of domestic abuse."

Now rumor also has it that the "woman" is Rhianna and the reason the argument happened in the first place is that Chris was confronting RiRi about giving him herpes. Like always, that is just what the rumor mill is burning with. Nothing has been confirmed. We here at the blogspot have yet to find any credible witnesses, medical reports, or supporting data to confirm or deny the rumor....

LOS ANGELES -- An exotic dancer was set on fire outside the club where she worked early Thursday, burning more than 60 percent of her body, police said. They were searching for two suspects.

A woman and a man called the 27-year-old dancer outside around 1 a.m. and then doused her with a flammable liquid next to the Babes & Beer sports club in the San Fernando Valley, police said. The dancer ran back inside and patrons came to her aid, police said.

Dear B. Free,

I'm not sure if you noticed the excessive amount of notes, bulletins, and email forwards going around the social networking scene as of late. One of the most popular has been the "25 Things" note. This is a note where you list 25 things about yourself that your friends may/may not know.

I've been "inspired" to create a list of "Lame A$$ excuses" that I am tired of hearing come out of womens mouths. The intent of this list is not to make the divide between genders grow nor to be ignorant. My goal here is to simulate some honest communication.

1. “There are no good men around” [as she’s sitting there eating a meal I’ve cooked for her..and not microwave meal either]

2. I just want to be friends.. but can you cook dinner for me again.

3. You’re the type of man a woman dreams of, I just never thought I would meet a guy like you, and I’m not sure I’m ready

4. I get bored easily [talking as we’re, Ice skating, at the driving range, camping, at an art gallery, or any number of other creative and fun activities]

5. I didn’t have a good father figure in my life and so now I don’t know how to treat a good man.

7. My ex’s didn’t know to communicate, so I’m not used to you wanting to have a meaningful conversation with me.

Serial Monogomy vs Whorish Relations

Hola Paparazzi People,

Thanks for tuning in. I stole the phrase "Serial Monogomy" from a friend of mine. He used it to describe the fact that one of our mutual friends is either in single homebody mode or he's in a relationship dating hard core on the verge of looking like he's married. Seeing as our mutual friend lands these rock solid relationships that last for a while, we coined him a serial monogomist.

However, in this article the phrase as i'm choosing to refers to people who hop from relationship to relationship and commit sexual acts right off the bat and just because they're are in a "relationship" this is considered (by many) to be ok. If you disagree by all means comment on it, but know you know someone or known someone who's doing it and you know someone who's thinks its ok to do. (add up ya someones and mulitply it by the population of your city and see what you get)

On the other you have folks who do the same type of risque behavior but because they don't claim the "relationship" they are talked about in harsher manner. It almost seems as if the illusion of beingin a relationship trumphs being honest about what you are and what you do.

Personally, i've lived and witnessed people who operated on both sides of this equation and will take that stance as devils advocate. What do you think people, does having the title give you the moral high ground or will over all logic dictate you think differently...

What kind of Relationship Do You Really Want??

In response to a previous blog, "Can we be more than friends? Why the Phuck Not?", we've recieved some serious feedback on what seems to be a very hot topic. Instead hashing it out behind the scenes in the comment section, we've put it front and center... Whats your take on this point of view?

I was the girl that heard "I do not want to be in a relationship right now" and ignored it. However, I ignored it because of the huge amounts of time we spent getting to know each other and the intimate conversations we were having (nothing physical or sexual guys.) It was as if we were building a relationship and when it got serious enough for me to bring up the talk again -- Where is this going? he would bring back the "but I told you I didn't want a relationship."

Here's what I learned from it. When a man says he does not want to be in a relationship, women don't fool yourselves just keep it moving. There are so many other men out there who are willing to make a commitment to you, just keep it moving. If his situation changes and you want to give him the time of day again go ahead but I have learned that where some women go back on their word, men don't and what they say is usually what they mean. Don't stick around because you think eventually he will realize what a good catch you are and change his mind. Bad idea-- Because in the end you will only be hurting you.

As for men, understand women a little more. Women are emotional beings and if you say you do not want to be in a relationship yet you do more than friends do...you know: start calling her honey, sweetheart, boo etc or talk to her into the wee hours of the morning...The signals you are sending to her reads that you want more. The more time you spend with her, the more she likes you thus the more she believes the situation might change.

What amazes me is that a man can tell when a woman is interested in him (more than a friendship) and you know you don't want anything else yet still embraces all that she does. Just because you said at the beginning that you were not ready for a relationship does not mean that you never have to have that talk again. I think men also have a duty to not accept gifts, don't go out on those dinner dates she sets up, don't go out to the movies etc..etc....And I am only talking about a situation where it is obvious that a woman clearly wants more and the man does not. If that is the case, yes I am saying don't hang out with her as much. Eventually then she will move on. I didn't want to mention this but don't state your point up front yet lead her on after. And leading her on is accepting everything she gives and always having these one on one dates

Black face pastries: 'Drunken "N-word" Cookies' (file this one under: WTF!!)

At at a time when any decent baker should have been selling racially harmonious black and white cookies by the truckload, one Greenwich Village bakery popular with celebrities and shows like Sex and the City has outraged neighbors by selling a "Drunken Negro Face" cookie in, um, "honor" of President Obama. [Video below.] A shocked customer tells My Fox NY that Ted Kefalinos, proprietor of Lafayette French Pastry, asked her, "Would you like some drunken negro heads to go with your coffee? They're in honor of our new president. He's following in the same path of Abraham Lincoln; he will get his."

Later, her friend stopped by the bakery and said Kefalinos corrected her about the name of the cookies—they're actually drunken "N-word" cookies. She says the backwards baker then repeated the dark suggestion that, like Lincoln, President Obama "will get what's coming to him." Go Secret Service, go!

And it gets worse when Fox's Arnold Diaz goes into the store with a camera and microphone to confront Kefalinos, who suddenly makes Joe the Plumber look like a Rhodes scholar. "I called them Drunken Negro Heads. What's the problem with that?" Kefalinos asks the newscaster with a smirk. "On Inauguration Day I thought it would be cool to change the name to Obama Heads. I just changed it for the day." We suppose Burning Cross Bananas Foster was too complicated to mass-produce.

Kefalinos denies intimating that Obama would be assassinated, and insists that the cookie is "not unflattering. I think it's a fun face... And anyone who says anything else should be ashamed of themselves." Besides, nobody got upset about the "Dead Geese Bread" he sold after the recent Hudson River plane crash. (We're NOT making that up.) Also, Kefalinos insists he can't be racist because, for one thing, "my brother-in-law, he's Cuban." Below, behold the breathtaking train wreck of racist ignorance.

UPDATE: We just spoke with Kefalinos on the phone and he remains utterly oblivious, telling us, "This whole thing was blown out of proportion." He says he's sold out of the "Drunken Negro Cakes" and doesn't plan to make anymore, despite the fact that many customers have been requesting them (he claims). When asked whether he understands that most African-Americans find the word "negro" offensive, Kefalinos explains, "It's a French word. It comes from the French."

Community Board 2 was quick to call for a boycott of Lafayette French Pastry, to which Kefalinos responds, "I'm sorry they feel that way because I was trying to do a nice thing." Not seeming to grasp in any way the degree of outrage he's sparked, he added, "I did it and that's the end of it and it's over."
UPDATE 1/24: Now Ted Kefalinos apologizes: "Seriously, from the bottom of my heart, it was an innocent design I created. It was nothing more than just a piece of art."
